Never underestimate the power of a great pop-song. It all began when electro-pop outfit Vive la Fête released “Touche Pas”, Swinnen’s first hit co-written with his girlfriend Saskia Vanderheyden. Offers from various publishing-companies started rolling in and the pair figured: “If we can write one hit, we can write another one”.

After some reflection, both Swinnen and Vanderheyden signed a deal with EMI-publishing, immersing themselves in the craft of big popsongs and melodies that really get stuck in the brain. Initially they were developing their own project (Fiftyseven), but soon enough they focused on writing for other artists.

Swinnen started to travel to write for international projects, and on a songwriting camp in Berlin met a very young, very talented artist Ashley Hicklin. Something instantly clicked during their first writing session together, and within a week Hicklin traveled to Brussels for more co-writing at Jeroen’s studios.

Over the years the pair went on to write countless local and international hits together and built a solid catalogue of popsongs. It was only a natural progression for them to both start their own independent publishing companies and officially join forces in 2020 under the newly formed Unified Songs.
